Ultra-Sensitive PSA Assay (U-PSA)

U-PSA is intended for the ultra sensitive quantitative determination of prostate specific antigen (PSA) in human serum and measures PSA levels below current “undetectable” levels (70 – 100 picograms/ml). PSA is being studied in an effort to understand its relationship with many different forms of cancer. PSA is utilized primarily as a test for prostate cancer. If the prostate has been removed, a PSA test will be taken to evaluate the recurrence of cancer. Physicians evaluate the PSA results over multiple tests to determine if a PSA result has doubled (velocity). U-PSA will allow earlier monitoring of these small early changes in PSA levels, which may be predictive of tumor recurrence. U-PSA is registered at the FDA for research use only. We expect U-PSA to be utilized by researchers/clinicians for earlier post-prostatectomy recurrence and the evaluation of PSA levels in women with breast cancer. More research is being conducted to understand the role of PSA in other forms of cancer and why PSA is detectable in women with breast cancer.

Human Migration Inhibitory Factor (MIF) Assay

MIF is a proinflammatory cytokine that plays an important role in the immunological response to a number of medical conditions, which have inflammation as a component. ODI has licensed the MIF Assay (Worldwide exclusive) from the Department of Veterans Affairs for prostate and bladder cancer. OncoDetectors has proprietary patents for five other cancers, where MIF is overexpressed. The MIF Assay has been registered at the FDA for research use and is intended for the detection of MIF in human serum, plasma, and urine. In pre-clinical studies, the MIF Assay combined with a PSA test improves the accuracy of prostate cancer screening from 48% to 92%. In addition to prostate cancer, MIF Assay is being studied as a screening and/or diagnostic test for bladder, lung, ovarian, kidney, and breast cancer. We believe the MIF Assay is the first assay registered with the FDA that will assist in the screening of bladder cancer and for breast cancer in conjunction with a screening mammogram.
